2024 Hervé Souhaut Syrah under 40 first with Sauvignon BlancThe Syrah for this cuve comes from a tiny parcel along the slopes of the Doux River, where 3080 year old vines grow on granitic soils in the cool, hilly Valle du Doux. Fermented whole bunch with a long, cool maceration and aged briefly on lees in old oak, this is a pretty classic Northern Rhne Syrah, albeit painted in Souhaut's vivid brushstrokes.
